Regional Teams
On October 10, 2008 we all came together for the New York State Governor's Summit on Student Engagement and Dropout Prevention. New York recognizes the need for attention on school completion and college readiness for our youth.
As a first step in that effort, the summit provided the opportunity for us to come together both in regional work groups and as a state, to develop active youth-informed prevention and intervention strategies, starting Pre-K through high school.
We all know that real collaboration takes more than a day, so we are excited to share with you the New York State Student Engagement and Dropout Prevention Online Community! This is an important online collaboration workspace that will enable you to communicate, coordinate and collaborate within your region and statewide, as we continue to work to reduce the dropout crisis immediately after our summit.
You will be able to access and share useful tools that will be very helpful in your summit follow up work and beyond. This includes a number of data sources, reports, communications support, shared calendar, state and community specific list serves, and so much more.
We truly hope that you will utilize this free space to initiate your very important action planning work. This technology can really work for us if we put it use. Click the link below to get started.
Thanks for all the work that you already do and for your commitment to our New York State effort to increase the graduation rate and prepare our young people for success in work and in life.
We’ll see you online!
Sincerely,
Duffy Palmer, Interim Secretary of Education
and Your New York Summit Planning Team
